The Rug - 2016

This is called "The Rug". I found a picture of a rug I liked and made the design into a quilt. It is improvisation curved pieced and is a favorite of mine. I didn't have a name for the quilt but a guild member kept asking me for a name for my rug quilt and so I said, " How about we just call it The Rug".

Love for All - 2016

My guild, Lincoln Modern Quilt Guild, challenged the members to do a quilt with text. I had just returned from the wedding of my sister and so had love on the brain. As this was an LGBT wedding, Love for all was an easy choice. I was struck by their commitment and love for each other against all the social inequities dealt to them over the 30+ years they have been together.

Facets - 2016

This is Facets, an improv flying geese design and one of the first scores I tried from Sherri Lyn Woods book The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters. Love the book and love this small piece that came from it.

Leftovers - 2016

I did Leftovers with exactly what it name implies, leftovers from projects that never were.

Riverbed - 2016

Riverbed is done with a layered improv circle technique. This was supposed to just be a test to see if I could do the technique and how the blocks would come together. I just pulled random fabric and in the end, really liked both the technique and the finished product.

Improv strip sets in shades of purple and pink with black and white stripe.

Crop Circles. Improv strip piecing.

Citrus Salad. Kind of improv log cabin blocks.

Follow The Leader. Pattern by Modern Quilt Studio.

I have had people ask me if the fabrics in this quilt were from the same line. When I tell them they were pulled from a random group they are quite surprised. I learned so much taking a class from Modern Quilt studio and Bill Kerr.

Grey Matter. Based on the design by Modern Quilt Studio as seen above. I took snowball blocks and added the strips connecting the columns.

Based on pattern by Modern Quilt Studio just a smaller version of their Small World pattern.
